Hello! My name is Ellie, I am a professional independent personal trainer and eating psychology coach who has worked in the industry for over ten years. I started my career as an assistant golf professional, moving into gym and fitness studio based personal training before deciding to start my own business as a mobile trainer a few years later.
People often ask me where I came up with the name Vida fitness. This came about when I first started in the industry. I was working as an apprentice gym instructor in a private health club when a gentleman came into the gym to come and pick his wife up who had been training there. We were chatting and I suggested he joined the gym since he was there daily to drop off and pick up his wife up. He laughed and asked me, "what do I need to be fit for," without hesitation I told him he needed to be "fit for life". This took him off guard a little and I could see he had never really thought of fitness in this way before. He assumed being fit was wearing a tight t-shirt and flexing muscles, helping him to reframe how he viewed fitness sparked something in him. The following week he joined. The name Vida is Spanish for lifetime. And from there Vida Fitness was born.
Over the years my approach to training with clients has drastically changed as I saw vast amounts of people really struggling to make positive changes despite all the information and support on hand. This made me really delve into the psychology behind nutrition and training as I knew this is where the magic happened. After qualifying as a behavioral change and eating psychology coach I started implementing the tools and strategies I learnt and saw real lasting progress with clients. There is so much more to training than just making you sweat!
I firmly believe that the best way for you to achieve results is for me to see you as a whole person. Our actions are often controlled by our thoughts and feelings so when it comes to making lasting changes willpower is sometimes just not enough. During the coaching with me, we will explore your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states as well as your nutrition, physical activity, digestion, lifestyle, career and relationships as all these parts of your life can have a profound effect on your health and fitness as a whole. We will bring attention and awareness to these factors to positively affect and change food choices, activity and behavior.
Working together we will uncover the root causes holding you back from making the changes you desire. I don't believe in six week transformations or quick fixes, as long term these can actually have a negative effect on your body composition and wellbeing. I do believe that it's possible to make sustainable changes when done in a well-structured, thought out way.
